The Museum of Mathematics “Cuboid” in Kyiv is a modern interactive space where mathematics becomes tangible and captivates visitors. The task was to create a bright and dynamic lighting system for the exhibitions, suspended structures, signage, and interactive zones, using neon, RGB, and addressable LED strips. The system was designed not only to enhance the aesthetics of the space but also to provide separate control of different zones. An important aspect was minimizing the number of cables and the complexity of installation, which was especially relevant due to the large number of lighting points.
The lighting of the museum spaces was implemented using i3 Engineering equipment, which provides:
● Control of a large number of RGB strips, neon elements, and addressable luminaires in all exhibition and lighting halls, with individual scenes for specific zones and exhibits.
● Decentralized placement of controllers and extension modules (Atom Ferrum N controllers — 2 units, Atom Extension 1U WS — 44 units). Thanks to Modbus bus connectivity, this made it possible to reduce the volume of cabling work, optimize material costs, and speed up the installation of the entire system.
● The ability to flexibly change lighting scenarios depending on the event (seminars, children’s camps, shows, excursions).
The lighting solution from i3 Engineering at “Cuboid” has become part of an educational space of a new era, where mathematics comes to life and inspires personal discoveries.
