Automation for an organic waste composting fermenter

2026 - Industrial automation

Illustration

The client’s objective was to stabilize the fermentation process of organic waste and reduce dependence on manual control. It was important to ensure maintenance of an optimal temperature regime, prevent material overheating, and preserve the quality of the final compost.

An automatic control system was implemented based on an Atom controller, with industrial temperature sensors, air injection devices, and cooling fans connected.

The controller continuously monitors the temperature of the material, which naturally heats up during fermentation, and automatically controls the operation of the equipment:
● when the upper allowable temperature threshold is reached, the cooling fans are activated;
● after the temperature decreases, the system reactivates air injection to continue the fermentation process.

As a result, the material is continuously maintained within optimal parameters without the need for manual intervention.

The system architecture allows for further expansion, including the integration of oxygen monitoring sensors and additional monitoring modules.

This case demonstrates practical engineering solutions that effectively operate in agribusiness, implemented using technologies developed by i3 Engineering.

Where to buy

Despite the easy configuration process thanks to the i3 Home App, a wired automation solution requires some technical skills in wiring, installing engineering systems and experience in installing various peripheral devices. That is why we recommend entrusting the development and installation of the Smart Home system only to certified i3 Engineering installers in your region. We can also provide training for your electrician or installation organization.
